Pikey Peak Trek is a 10-day trek in Nepal that takes you to the summit of Pikey Peak, located in the Solu-Khumbu region of Nepal, home to the famous Sherpa people. You will pass through small villages, forests, and alpine meadows as you make your way to the summit of Pikey Peak, which offers stunning views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest. 

Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit monasteries, meet local Sherpa people, and learn about their culture and way of life. The trek is considered moderate to challenging, and it is recommended that you have some prior trekking experience before attempting it.

Itinerary

1 Arrival in Kathmandu

On the first day of your trip, you will arrive at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our team’s representative will pick you up at the airport with a warm welcome. After a short introduction with our team, you will transfer to your hotel for a good night’s rest.

2 Kathmandu City sightseeing ( Boudhanath stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Monkey temple )

The following day, we will take you sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley. We will only be able to cover the major tourist attractions sights. You will be fascinated by the historical and religious heritage sites like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bauddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, and many more.

3 Kathmandu to Dhap (10 hrs) drive stay overnight

Our drive from Kathmandu to Dhap will take 9-10 hours. The drive will not be boring as you will see a variety of landscapes from Kathmandu to Dhap. From rivers to forests, the drive itself will be an adventurous one. Once we reach Dhap, we will stay overnight at a lodge.

4 Dhap to Jhapre trek (5 hrs) walk

On the fourth day of the Pikey Peak Trek, you will begin your journey from Dhap to Jhapre. The trek from Dhap to Jhapre is approximately 5 hours long and involves a moderate level of difficulty. You will be walking through the Solu-Khumbu region of Nepal, known for its beautiful forests, small villages, and alpine meadows. The route takes you through lush forests and small villages, allowing you to observe the local way of life. 

As you make your way to Jhapre, you will also have the chance to enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest. Along the way, you may also come across monasteries, where you can learn about the local culture and religion. You should take plenty of breaks to rest and hydrate during this trek, as the high altitude and strenuous activity can be challenging.

5 Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base Camp (6 hrs) walk

On this day, we will ascend toward Bhulbhule, which has a grassy ridge and a single lodge without a name. From here, we have a great view of the Everest Range. Then, our trail goes right toward Pikey Peak. We will pass through old yak houses and a long mani-stone wall to reach a forested trail. 

In spring, you can see blooming rhododendrons in the forest. From here, we will reach Pikey Base Camp within 2 hours. You can also climb the summit if you get there on a clear evening, or it’s best to rest for the day.

6 Basecamp to Junebeshi via pikey peak (7 hrs) walk

We will then descend to Jase Bhanjyang, where we will have our breakfast. Walking through steep sections of the forest, we will reach Loding. There are a few trails from here to descend to Junbesi. 

Moreover, we will take a shortcut trail that leaves the cliff shortly after Jase and goes downhill steeply through spectacular old-growth forest to Taktor. This route meets the Everest Base Camp trail coming from Jiri. We will reach Junbesi within a couple of hours.

7 Hike to Thutumcholing Monastry, then walk to Phaplu (7 hrs) walk

Today, our journey will be a beautiful and peaceful one as we pass by Thutumcholing Monastry. The trail passes by beautiful dense forests of rhododendron as we approach the village of Phaplu. It will take us 7 hours to reach there and it will be our final destination of this region.

8 Drive to Kathmandu 9-10 hrs

Finally, we will pack our bags and move toward Kathmandu. This drive will be of 9-10 hours as stumble through hilly roads. Your drive will be entertaining as we look over the diverse landscapes of Nepal.

9 Relaxation Day

This is your day to relax and explore the Kathmandu City. Enjoy your leisure time with your schedule. 

 

10 Departure from Kathmandu
