Travel with an Infant in Nepal

Travel with an Infant in Nepal

Most of the tourist attractions places in Nepal are around nature. So, when you travel with an infant in Nepal, it will be good for your baby to be around nature. However, not all the places are suitable for the bay due to the altitude, climate, and many other external factors.

So, you should research the condition and contact travel agencies like us to be sure whether it is good to travel with your infant at the time. Worry not; we have prepared some detailed instructions on how to travel with an infant in Nepal.

Here are all the things you must keep in mind before traveling with an infant:

Destination

The destination is an essential factor to consider while traveling with your baby. When you have a baby, certain places won’t be suitable to travel to due to high altitude, climate, and time interval.

So, you should choose destinations with average height like Annapurna Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, The Royal Trek, Sikles Trek, and Mohare Danda Trek. You can contact us for further inquiries about these trekking packages.

Seasons

Autumn (September to November)

Autumn is the best season to travel in Nepal. The weather gets clear, and the temperature gets mild. Moreover, you will have many travel destination options during this time.

Winter (December to February)

Winter in Nepal is the prettiest, with clear blue skies, snow-covered mountains, and radiant sun. Nevertheless, the temperature can lower to minus 1 degree Celsius. It is better not to travel with your child if they’re not used to cold temperatures. However, you might get off-season discounts at this time.

Spring (March to May)

Spring is a popular season for trekking in Nepal. It starts from the beginning of March to late May. Moreover, at this time of the year, the beautiful rhododendrons bloom. While you trek to the hills of Nepal, you can enjoy your trekking trail covered with fragrant rhododendron trees along with your children.

Summer (June to August)

Summer starts around June in Nepal. However, it gets cloudy during summers in most parts of the country. So, the monsoon hits Nepal slightly during the first weeks of summer and gets heavier near the end.

This time is also not good for trekking as clouds cover the mountains and hills. Moreover, the temperature rises above 30°C.

Altitude

Children are more sensitive to altitude sickness than grown-ups. Also, the symptoms are more difficult to recognize in children, and you could have a life-threatening condition on your hands.

To avoid altitude sickness is to remain at a lower altitude or go very slowly and allow plenty of time for acclimatization. Keeping that in mind, avoiding a high-altitude trekking destination is wise.

Distance

Many of the famous treks in Nepal are time-consuming. Do not choose more than 10-day treks. Ten days of the tour is already a long time to be trekking for a child. The walk will be even longer when you slowly add the need to acclimate to the altitude. The goal is to travel a short distance slowly and acclimatize adequately.

Physical Fitness

Traveling with a baby is challenging. So, make sure you are fit enough to walk a great distance in a limited period. Besides, if you aim for trekking, fitness is automatically a requirement.

Porter

You certainly won’t be able to carry your baby through the trekking journey. Even if your baby can walk, they won’t have enough strength or stamina to complete the trip. So, it is best to bring a porter along with you, or you can hire a porter to carry your baby throughout the journey.
